Luck of the Runner...2 Races, 2 Cities

This weekend we are both embarking on our first race of the year!  Ironically enough, last year at this time we were doing the same thing.  I was running the NYC Half Marathon and Lacey was running the Shamrock Marathon.  March seems to be a good time of year for the first race of the season because by then we are guaranteed quite a few days of good weather to get those training runs in.

So what do we have in store for our first races of the year on St. Patrick's day?  Let's take a look...

On Sunday I will be running the Lucky Charm 10K.  I discovered this race last year but I had already committed to running the NYC Half so I put it on my list for 2018.  The weather this winter was certainly not as warm as last year so I'm kind of glad that it's only a 10K that I will be running because I did not train as well as I did last year.  My last 10K was the Hershey 10K last April. To be honest, I was hoping to make that race a "goal race" of mine but I ended up running it with a chest cold so that didn't happen. I did not train to make the Lucky Charm race a "goal race" this year but I do hope to do better than Hershey last year.  -M

Last year at this time I was running the Shamrock Marathon. I've run that race for three years and to tell ya the truth, I'm sort of over it. The weather seems to get worse each year I run it.  This year I wanted to run in better weather. Turns out, I was lucky enough to get invited to run the L.A Marathon!

I know I haven't talked much about this training cycle, because honestly I do not think it was much of one. This winter was kind of hard to get my runs in.  I took advantage of the nice days we had and did my long runs then and  ran on the treadmill the other days. My highest mileage was only 15 miles. I 'm okay with this because I do not feel any pressure going into this race (Since  I already BQ-ed back in November).

I 'm basically doing this race just for the experience and to visit a friend I haven't seen in quite some time!  I never look up the course before a marathon. I guess I just like to be surprised while I'm running it. However, I do obsess about the weather (as do most runners). I saw that it is suppose to be raining all! At least it should be a warm rain.  It will be a quick weekend but I'm going to try to make the best of it while I'm there. -L

Ever sign up for a race, not for the race itself but what it entails such as the travel, experience, people, etc?

We will be linking up with the gals from TOTR.

L.A Marathon : Race day in pictures

Last Sunday I ran the L.A Marathon, my first race of the year! On race morning I kept debating what to where, capris or  a  skirt? Arm sleev...
